| Ulli Kaiser |
| Ulli was born in Austria and studied Textile Art and Art Education (emphasis Painting) at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst “Mozarteum” Salzburg, (university for music and dramatic arts), gaining the degree “Mag. Art.” with honours. After years in Hong Kong she moved to England in 1998 and now designs and works from her studio near Guildford, Surrey.
Ulli taught herself the old technique of bead crochet with the intention of using it not just with conventional glass rocaille beads, but other unusual materials too, such as coloured wood, shells, antique facetted cut glass or tiny gemstones. Since summer 2008 silversmithing has developed into a strong part of her jewellery, opening new doors to combine contrasts not only in colour and technique but also in shape. She find inspirations in the materials themselves and in old botanical studies, nevertheless, all her work evolves while making. |
