Fashion and textiles is the main inspiration for my work. I enjoy combining the two materials together, metal serves as the main structure for the piece and the fabrics offers the tactile quality. Wearable objects are a consistent and central theme throughout my work. In my current work I seek to create a dialogue between the two materials so that neither is dominant but instead can work harmoniously. In this way the piece functions on two levels - as jewellery and as art.
Projects include 'Movement, Journey, Deep, Transient' (2005, Royal Lemington Spa Art Gallery and Museum) - a collaborative performance devised between the maker/artist Vannetta Seecharran and dancer Junior Cunningham, and funded by Arts Council England and Warwick District Council; in 2004/05 she was invited to take part in the HAT project - 'Here and There: UK/Australia', an international exchange residency programme for artist designers, with subsequent exhibitions in the UK and Australia.
