| Using slate from the West Coast of Scotland, I have produced a very personal collection of work. I have used traditional skills and modern techniques to create natural jewellery pieces. These pieces are tactile and sculptural and therefore they let the slate speak for itself. I have combined the slate with silver and gold to enhance the precious quality of the stone.
Growing up on the West Coast of Scotland, I have always been drawn to the sea. The slate collection involved a lot of time on the beach sifting through piles of pebbles worn by the sea’s action. Each precious individual piece of slate, once scattered on a sandy beach has been given purpose and awarded the status of gold. |
