Sylvia Tomkinson

I live on the South Coast in Hampshire and have been making Jewellery for over 35 years. Most of my work is in Silver with Gold decoration and sometimes with semi precious stones added. I have also recently started working in Titanium with the addition of Silver which contrasts really well with the beautiful colours of the treated Titanium. Each of my collections has a unique style and varies from the rest of my work. Please see my web page www.sylviatomkinson.co.uk for a more comprehensive view, or https://www.sales.sylviatomkinson.co.uk for currently available work.

I have lived in Hampshire for the last forty years and been making jewellery for longer than that, but never as a full time career. Starting off as a hobby it soon became a passion and I registered with Goldsmith's Hall Assay Office - London in 1978. I sold in craft markets, local shops and exhibitions throughout the seventies and eighties, taking a break after that to return to full time employment, returning to Jewellery in 2006. I particularly like using a contrast of texture or colour in my jewellery by, for example, adding gold or semi precious stones to a silver piece, or by oxidizing the background of a three dimensional item. Influences come from many different areas as I like to continually evolve and develop new styles and try different techniques. Titanium, which produces beautiful colours, is the latest range.

Druzy Agate set with a similar piece of silver with granulation to reflect the style of the stone.
