Asimi

My jewellery is inspired by the organic shapes and textures found in natural rock formations. The "meteorite" collection comprises silver and gold pieces that fuse not only different metals but also combine granular and smooth lava textures, that are then scattered with an unusual array of precious stones. Each piece is unique and combines various colours of precious metals. High quality stones are set into a whole range of jewellery: rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, cufflinks and tiepins, all of which can be designed to personal specification.
Following my permanent move to Mani, Southern Greece, my inspiration started to diversify. In my Natural Collection I began taking ideas from the seed pods, driftwood, pebbles and plants which are so prolific in this seemingly barren landscape and combining organic, decomposable materials with precious metals, as the concept of juxtaposing fragility with endurance seemed to represent the feelings I have about my environment. Especially during the Covid lockdown I ended up using many more natural pieces I collected in Africa as I didn't have access to precious materials. Since then all of my pieces have become distinctly more three dimensional.
More recently I have been creating bold political jewellery documenting world events, combining bullet cartridges with feathers, fake fur, seeds and flotsam from the migrant shipwrecks here in Greece.
I work mainly to commission, but also have new pieces on the go while preparing for exhibitions. For current updates on my work, follow me on Instagram: @asimijewellery
