Kat, originally from Essex, has lived in Brighton & Hove since 1998 when she moved to the area to study Geography & Environmental Studies at the University of Sussex. This was followed in 2002 by a MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management. Kat began studying jewellery craft in 2007 during evening classes whilst working as an Environmental Consultant in the planning and development / construction industry. With an immediate passion for designing and making contemporary jewellery Kat began to work part time in order to spend more time learning and making jewellery techniques and completed the Holts Academy stone setting course in Hatton Garden. Launching her first jewellery collection in 2009 whilst continuing to gain skills through working freelance for established Brighton based designer Natasha Dahlberg, undertaking commission based work, and exhibiting at some of the top jewellery and craft exhibitions in the UK, Kat has established herself as a recognised designer / maker. In May 2013 Kat took the plunge and changed career full time into the jewellery sector, working for Pruden and Smith, jewellers and silversmiths in Ditchling and continuing to develop her own work.
