“My work is a reflection of the place I call home — the Dorset coast. I’m endlessly inspired by the forms and textures found along the shoreline, from weathered driftwood to the shimmer of the tide. Each piece I make is a little sculptural expression of that landscape — calm, natural, and full of quiet strength.”
Born in Germany to teacher parents, Tamasine Price spent her early years moving between towns before her family roots brought her home to the Dorset coast. With both sets of grandparents living in Weymouth, the seaside became her constant — a place filled with childhood memories of beachcombing, crabbing off the harbour wall, and picnicking by the shore.

At the age of 13, Tamasine moved permanently to Weymouth, where her love of the sea and the coastal landscape deepened. She grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Dorset coastline — windsurfing, kayaking, and sailing — experiences that continue to inspire her work today.

Education and Creative Beginnings

Tamasine’s creative journey began during her school years, where she discovered a natural passion for art and making. She went on to study Sculpture at art college, gaining her degree and developing a deep appreciation for form, texture, and material — elements that now define her jewellery design.

After graduating, she worked in a range of creative roles, from freelance artist to sculptor at an animation firm, before retraining as a primary school teacher. For many years, she balanced teaching part-time with her artistic practice, maintaining her connection to creativity while inspiring it in others.

Discovering Jewellery Making

Her transition into jewellery came unexpectedly during a weekend trip to Brighton, where she took part in a silver jewellery workshop. The experience proved transformative. From the moment she began working with silver, she was captivated by the process — the rhythm of making and the satisfaction of shaping something lasting and beautiful by hand.

This moment ignited a new chapter in her creative life. Tamasine went on to study jewellery formally, completing a BTEC in Jewellery Making and a series of Silver Clay Diplomas (Levels 1, 2, and Higher Diploma). She has since completed a Diploma in Jewellery Making and is currently halfway through a year-long Fine Jewellery Diploma, further refining her craftsmanship and design approach.

Alongside her practical training, she undertook a course in the History of Jewellery with the Victoria and Albert Museum, deepening her understanding of jewellery’s cultural and artistic legacy.

Tamasine is a lifelong learner, continually expanding her skills studying sand casting, investment casting, and gemstone identification.

Artistic Approach

Tamasine’s background in sculpture continues to shape her jewellery practice. She views each piece as a miniature sculpture — tactile, textural, and full of character. Working primarily in silver, she often incorporates touches of gold to evoke the glow of sunlight on the sea. Her designs draw direct inspiration from the Dorset coastline — from the ripples of waves and organic textures of shells to the smoothness of pebbles and driftwood.

Every piece she creates reflects a connection between nature, form, and artistry — a celebration of the beauty and rhythm of the sea.

Dorset Seaside Silver

Tamasine is the founder of Dorset Seaside Silver, her studio based in Weymouth, where she designs and handcrafts jewellery inspired by her coastal surroundings. Her work combines traditional silversmithing techniques with contemporary design, producing pieces that are both wearable and expressive.

Each creation tells a story — of the coast, of creativity, and of the joy found in making by hand.
